REVIEW: Legoland Grapevine - Dallas/Ft. Worth

By Jessica Peterson, Publisher - Macaroni Kid Pearland April 19, 2018

Did you know Texas has a hidden gem in Grapevine, TX? No, I’m not talking about the wineries, Great Wolf Lodge or even the Grapevine Railroad. It’s Legoland Discovery Center, conveniently located inside Grapevine Mills Mall. This family-friendly attraction is SO family friendly, it is required you have a child with you to be allowed admission into this fun, hands-on discovery place.  There are so many appealing things about Legoland Discovery Center that I don’t even know where to start. I visited this past weekend, on Saturday, with my 5 year old daughter, 19 month old son and my friend, who we were visiting and staying with over the weekend. This place has something to appeal to all ages! There is an admissions side to enter the attraction and a retail side to enter the store. It’s a sensory overload in the best way possible at this attraction. Our visit started with Kingdom Quest – a shooting ride game where you ride on a chariot to save the princess from evil trolls and skeletons. While this may sound frightening, all the animation is funny and appealing to even the youngest of riders and makes you part of the fun getting to shoot the villains and save the day. Our next stop was the LEGO 4D Cinema, where you become part of The Lego Movie action – and you experience everything from being shot with lemonade bubbles to interacting with the characters themselves. You have to see it (and feel it) to believe the fun! Space Mission included a rocket ship that really takes off and blows smoke, and a mission control center where you can see everyone hard at work on their own space-themed creations. Lego City: Forest Ranger Pursuit was perfect fun for kids ages 4-13, where they can drive their own Lego police car and catch the crooks in a driving adventure. We ended our visit to Legoland Discovery Center with a stop at the gift shop where I snagged my favorite Star Wars figure Yoda in a mini-figure keychain form, and my 5 year old daughter found a pink foam sword and Heartlake City themed sequin baseball cap – all 3 souvenirs in a very reasonable $20 total price point.
