Another great attraction pick while on vacation in Atlanta was Serenbe Playhouse. This was a 40 minute commute from our lodging in East Atlanta, but well worth the drive! This nonprofit community theatre organization uses nature as the backdrop for all their local productions. This immersive experience allows the audience to experience the show in the most authentic way possible and really connect you with the story being told.
The performance was the true story of Pocahontas. I felt it important to share another culture with my kids and also share the authenticity of an important historical figure. It was interactive with many of the actors taking to the audience as part of the show. Bubbles, a moving wave and even moving the ship on stage were all part of the interactive fun.
A full concession stand operates during the length of the show, with snacks and drinks for adults and kids, and merchandise available for purchase. After the show both kids went and met the cast and received autographs from everyone. It was a fun time full of learning and engaging with fine arts and culture.
