Cake Craft Shoppe

An awesome way to bond with your kiddos!

By Kelly Hamons January 4, 2023

Cake Craft Shoppe invited my Girl Scout troop to try out a class.  I was a little hesitant, because the drive was a bit farther than I wanted to travel.  Accepting the invitation was a great decision.  The storefront is a little hard to see, but if you use google maps it takes you right to the front door. We had an amazing time!

When we arrived, I noticed how clean the shop was.  I admit that I was a little nervous about the kids destroying the place. Cynthia the instructor, had a table with fresh pastries and fruits along with juice and coffee for the kids and parents to enjoy.  Everything was set up beautifully and the kids were excited.  My Girl Scouts are 6 & 7 years old.  One of them could not be there so there was an extra spot available that my 13 year old and one of the other girls 4 year old brother hopped right in and eagerly waited for instruction.

Cynthia was amazing in her technique and ability.  The kids decorated gingerbread houses as it was right before Christmas.  Each girl had their own gingerbread house that was already put together with a white chocolate so they were sturdy and ready to decorate.  Let's be honest, putting those things together never works.  They seem to just fall apart with icing alone.

The kids learned how to make a Christmas tree with an ice cream cone and icing.  When I say the icing and candies for decoration was abundant, I mean there was stuff I never thought of to add to a gingerbread house.  After the instruction which was about 5 minutes, the kids were given plenty of time to use their imaginations and create a gingerbread wonderland.  The Girl Scouts did an awesome job with Cynthia helping wherever needed.  The parents were having a great time with helping the kids too.  My 13 year old helped her 4 year old partner with his house.

We were able to take our tasty creations home.  The gingerbread houses were absolutely delicious.  I typically do not like gingerbread, however, this was by far the best flavor and texture I have ever had.  It was not overpowering with ginger and the pieces were not too dry.

Next door to the Cake Craft Shoppe is another storefront that has everything you would need for baking and decorating.  A wall full of cookie cutters is the first thing I noticed.  I didn't even know there were that many different cookie cutters to choose from.  They have characters and decorations that are premade so you can use them on your own cakes.  I must say if I need anything for baking this will be my first stop.

After 2 hours the kids were finished and we didn't even have to clean up.  It was all taken care of.  These classes start at around $20 per person and go up.  I think the prices are fair for the amount of time and effort put in to creating the decorations and set up. They offer "Bake and Bond" classes which are similar to mommy and me classes, teen instruction, camps, birthday parties and more.  I think it's a cool idea for date night as well.
